The name is from the Latin for seawater. Aquamarine is a “Beryl” that is a group of minerals which comprise Beryllium, Aluminium and Silicate. The group includes Emeralds, Morganite and is typical of the western states of the USA. It was said to be the treasure of mermaid and was used by sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection. It was also considered a stone of eternal youth and happiness. Today it is believed to protect all who travel by, over, or near water, and opens the channels of clear and heartfelt communication.
It is interesting that for the evening event on her wedding day Megan wore an Aquamarine set in a ring, interesting because March’s birthstone is also thought to enhance the happiness of marriages.
